Ok, so I tried white spirit today and it did feck all. Gave it a good rub and ended up just cleaning it off with soapy water. Gonna get the T-cut out next and give that a go.

Autoglym Tar Remover go over with a a fair bit on the cloth(stockinette cloth not microfibre or other soft cloth)and leave a couple of mins to soak into the tar then go back over it-if its stubborn i just take the top of the dried tar off with my fingernail and it usually flies off after that, dont ever need anything else as soon as the surface is broke its no bother.

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaner - Tar ???

I'll keep at it then. It's the X3 wheels, mainly the fronts.

Gunmetal on the X3, I'd love to but Mrs wouldn't be too chuffed. When / if I manage to find a nice set of wheels for the Scoob I'll def pop over and let you do it !!

Love the Fiveskin comment though, best idea yet !!!

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaner - Tar ???

picking dark wheels was the best decision..... Picking black car was the worst decision.

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaner - Tar ???

Never heard that one before mate, I found a wheel cleaner at the weekend thats really good. It sprays on as a foam. Left it for about 10 minutes and then wash off. Didn't get all of the tar off but a good start.

Re: Alloy Wheel Cleaner - Tar ???

It was a little hard to pick the perfect cleaner for an alloy set of wheels. My neighbors wheels started fading after a good 3 months of use of some product cleaner. I would not mention the brand as I do not want them to get affected by what could be false alarm.

My piece of advice though, do not clean it more than once a week as that could affect the luster property of the metal. I am using a different brand but opted to do it twice in a month just to be sure.
