scratchy paintwork

I got me an Impreza R Sport 2 weeks ago. Today I inspected the paintwork closely and it is covered in tiny scratches in swirly patterns. I reckon the previous owner visited automatic drive in car washes with the big spinning nylon brushes.

Is there anyway to smooth this out and make it pristine again?

Is Mer the way to go? Or claybaring?

Car is WR blue.

Paint correction via DA or Rotary will be the best way, you can mask it with products like Auto Finesse Triple or AG Super resin polish, these contain fillers that will hide the marring etc, as long as you dont use harsh chemicals you can layer the products to hide them over time.

Re: scratchy paintwork

I never use car washes apart from the hand ones. I use Mer on my Smart Roadie.

2 bucket method and a clean wash mitt, I use a snow foam lance to limit the amount of damage inflicted each time I wash it.

as above da or rotary with a light cutting compound like farecla g6 or similar is the only way you'll acually get rid of the swirl marks then finish with a finishing glaze also on the rotary. will come up like a sheet of glass
