paint damage

hi all,

need some advice. andrea has dragged the back door of the impreza along someone's back bumper and transferred a fair amount of plastic from the bumper to the door along with a nice dent all the way along. i need to clean it up before i can see how bad the dent is and need to get the plastic off the paint. does anyone know what the best stuff is to get it off?

many thanks
tom

Re: paint damage

Hi Tom, you could try using:

Old plastic card (like a credit card) with neat fairy liquid (detergent for washing dishes) so the card slides under the plasic. Or WD40 with the card.

Re: paint damage

cheers fellas, i'll give the wd40 a try on sunday and post some pics up then bob. i have a feelin that its gonna be a bodyshop job no matter how much i tidy it up because it looks like the door skin has been pushed in just above the coach line. at least she did the same door as last time so i can get it all done in one go now

Re: paint damage

hi bob, better late than never and i still haven't had the chance to wash it or sort the scratches but here's the pic of the wife effect on the car

i think she's rippled the door skin so when i can get the cash together, i'll look at getting that and the rust patches sorted. i can't complain about the rust appearing, she's passed the 150k mark and still going strong. that's the car, not the wife

Re: paint damage

Just source a replacement door from one of the forums, would that not be cheaper and easier

Re: paint damage

A small area on the top of the rear bumper of my '08 started chipping last week. They did not chip away from the body but they started creating some maps. I think it was caused by a baseball that hit the area. I do not know what happened to it and I would not want it to continue and affect a big portion of the bumper. I think it is too small to get the whole thing repainted but if I prolong it, the damage might grow even bigger. Any ideas?
