[General] ON THE ROAD EDITIONS
There are a million books about cars, but none about driving.
Until now. For anyone who’s ever enjoyed the freedom of motoring, here is a book like no other in the world. On the Road unashamedly celebrates the passion that is driving. Forget smoking tires, mechanics and machismo, Peter Schindler celebrates the freedom, adventure, discovery, camaraderie and companionship that can be yours – On the Road. On the Road relates experiences around the world from the pen of a man who has had a life-long passion for driving. Superbly illustrated with stunning photographs of magnificent roads, breathtaking landscapes and people at one with their cars – the result is the perfect gift for anyone who drives, is driven, or would like to experience the freedom of the road. Peter Schindler was born in the land of The Sound of Music. He lives in Hong Kong, his car is registered in Austria, his passport is Swiss, his driving license from the US and his marriage certificate says that his Malaysian-Chinese wife is Australian. With this confused background, crossing borders by car is never easy, but being on the road is. At the age of nineteen Peter competed successfully in numerous European motor racing championships, representing Austria in Monaco, Hockenheim and Zolder amongst others. In 1980 he came fifth in the European Championship with lap records, pole positions and wins on several tracks including Silverstone, Zolder, Hockenheim and Salzburgring. A year later he won three consecutive German Formula 3 Championship races (Nürburgring, Zolder and Salzburgring) before retiring from the sport in 1982. But Peter never stopped enjoying driving and over the years he has driven more than a million kilometres in Europe, the US and Asia and has now written a book about his experiences. Engaging and inspirational, On the Road is the perfect gift for the holiday season and beyond… End Notes to editors: Publication date: November 2005 Price: £16.99 ISBN: 988 98256 1 9 Format Paperback, 192 pages For a signed copy of On the Road and free shipping please visit www.ontheroadeditions.com For all publicity enquiries please contact Bethan Jones at MGA on 020 7836 4774 or email ontheroad@mga-pr.com For all sales enquiries please contact Melanie Warren at Gazelle Books on 01524 68765 or email Melanie@gazellebooks.co.uk |
