Re: Ok plan R

Stage 1 mods

Other than the brakes and rear drop links, it was pretty standard whe i got it. I had forgotten how quiet standard exhaust was so that ahd to be changed. List of mods was

Heat wraped GT spec Gen 2 exhaust manifold
Heat wraped Harvey smith up pipe
Full decat inc downpipe
walbrough 300lph fuel pump
Syevcs ecu
GFB dump valve

First thing was a dyno run, where it ran a rather low 230bhp (should be around 27-280), which wasnt unexpected given previous run. Boost was lower than should be so power was always going to be down.

Managed to get a shot of the underside while it was up on ramp, the black is the underseal, but you can even see the rear cross member is rust free as well smile.png

New exhaust manifold and up pipe

Few bits to go back on, some surplus hahaha

all going back together,

and shiney shiney

So back onto the dyno, and first issue hits. Pat (mapper) puts on base map and they start doing runs whiule he alters it. Gets it to about 130bhp and develops a missfire. Runs are stopped and its looked into, spark plugs get replaced which make no difference. Then coil pack is swapped out and missfired solved. But then the real bad news starts. Turbo is showing signs that its struggling to make boost and its dropping off up the rev range and pat thinks it wont male 300bhp. He finishes off mapping it and sure enough ends up at a rather disapointing 290bhp and diagnosed with a turbo on the way out.

Has made a difference to how it drives but its still lacking something and i came away rather disappointed with the end result.

Have to say a big thanks to the guys up at clinic again, ended up staying late to finish it off for me

so plan B is being thought up, Aka new turbo and inlet pipe haha.

Other new addition is a asus memopad. The syvecs ecu has a bluetooth sensor output module addon available. With the iminent releaseof the android app i'll be able to set it up and use it as a set a display instead of a set of gauges. I just need to fasion a holder for it, so expect stage 2 fairly soon

Update from when i wrote this originally.

Goes in this or next week for turbo replacement and couple of others bits, depending on when i can arrange a lift back lol

Re: Ok plan R

Well things didnt go to plan to say the least.

Before they even started the once over found an issue, crank is rattling which means crank is on the way out and only a matter of time before it fails in a big way

Needs crank replacing and any damage caused diagnosed to find out how bad it is. Hopefully its been caught early enough that is just the crank and bearings that are damaged and nothing else.

So next mod, engine rebuild.

not sure on plan yet, bit dependant on how bad the damage is, if block is ok then maybe 2.1 if not then prob 2.5.
