whistling noise????

i have a whistling noise which you can hear on and off when driving - whether its from moving of, or driving down the bypass.

I have taken of the dump valve thinking that might of been it. but the noise was still there. I have checked all hoses for splits and they are all fine.

Really baffeling me now as i don't know what it is, the two things i thought it was was the dump valve or a split pipe but it is neither of these.

The sound appears to be coming from the drivers side / centre of the engine bay.

An ideas???? Only started recently have had nothing done to my subaru to cause this.

will try disconecting the air conditioning pump - see if its that. Can then rule it in or out.

The air conditioning pump i have now i had put last year second hand, and i have not filled it back up yet with gas. would that make any difference???

The pump can still whine if the belt is on the pulley.
