Re: gearbox/rear diff

Hi

Neither the final drive or rear diff ratios match;

Gear box TY752VB3AA has a 1.0:1 transfer ratio and a 4.111 final drive, so the rear diff would also need a 4.111 ratio (final drive x transfer ratio = rear diff ratio).

As far as i can tell gear box TY752VN1BA has a 3.9 front diff and a 3.545 final drive so to get the rear diff to match the transfer ratio would be 1.1:1 and the rear diff would have a ratio of 3.900 (sounds like a UK box)

If the whoever put the N1BA box in did a proper job they would have also changed the rear diff to 3.900, now you've put a B3AA back in your going to have to replace the diff aswell.

Hope the helps

Re: gearbox/rear diff

Hmmm, thats a we bit odd. I could be wrong but only the some of the UK Legacy's had a 3.545 rear diff ratio.
Starting to think the info i found stating that it had 3.900 FRONT diff is wrong..... or its right and thats why you needed to replace the box.

If your going to keep the TY752VB3AA box in you will definately need a 4.111 rear diff. If you run the box with a 3.545 rear diff the rear and front wheels will turn a different speeds resulting in a chewed up centre diff.... get a 4.111 rear diff.

If you do stick with the new box and replace the rear diff you'll notice a big improvement in acceleration (at the cost of top speed).
