Hesitation

My 99 wagon has got an annoying hesitation around the 3-4000 rpm mark also bit jerky on steady throttle done ecu reset and is still doing it.
Idles ok.
I have a feeling it`s the dreaded MAF failure.
Please help.

Hi mate

You may well be right with the MAF sensor Has it ever been changed ?? One way to check with your MAF is to unplug it whilst the car is up to temp and engine running. Basically what you need to do is unplug it and see how the car reacts. If the MAF is doing its job then it should misfire - cough splutter etc - however if the car continues to idle fine then this can be the first signs of the MAF being foobarred I'm afraid

It could also be a few other things but best thing to do is start with the obvious and use the process of elimination. Try the MAF procedure and come back to us

OK mate a few other things that would be helpful to know

Have you had the spark plugs changed recently ?

Have you checked the ECU for any fault codes ?

Have you tried cleaning the Boost control solenoid ?

What fuel do you use and as per Alyns comment is your car UK or JDM ?

It`s a UK car

I`ve cleaned the boost solenoid

Plugs not changed it`s due for it`s 60,000 mile service shortly.

No fault codes on ECU

I use Optimax fuel
