Anyone fitted a Power Mod chip to IAT / ECTS

:?: Recently bought a power mod chip. Claims of between 5 & 20BHP increase. Fits onto the IAT sensor, but dammed if i know where my IAT sensor is??

Well mate you are a very brave person if you fit that :shock: :shock:

Heres a link to the Power Mod - I would definately not let it anywhere near any Scoob of mine :roll:

Basically what it does is allow the ECU to be fooled into thinking that the air temperature being recorded by the air flow sensor is lower than what it ACTUALLY is !!!! It allows the ECU to advance ignition etc and yes it will produce more power......However think why the ECU would generally retard the ignition? Say for example on a very hot day when intake temps are very high.....generally an ECU would retard the timing slightly to allow the car to perform without incident.....however this chip would fool the ECU into thinking that the car is getting Cold dense air and hey presto you have an ECU that is allowing the engine to work well outside of its 'safe' parameters.

Good mapping and engine management costs money I'm afraid - its a fact of life ops:
