![]() ![]() ive been working away for a week so car has been outside all week when i went to start it i turned key to starting position and i had like a 5 second pause (ive had this pause thing for a while)but this time it tried to start and failed ,when turning key now all i get is a really fast ticking noise from somewhere under bonnet ........any ideas very welcome as ive spent more than the cars worth on repairs alone and im considering a cheap run about instead ![]() ![]() ![]() thanks guys |

Thats your starter motor trying to get enough power to turn the engine over. Charge the battery and you should be ok

Have you got a immobilliser fitted ? I wondered if this was the pause you mention,
I agree with Matt about the battery it does sound like it or a poor earth/fault starter, It may be worth dropping a volt meter across the + & - terminals of the battery to give you a idea.

It may just be that delay as the immob and key do their thing so may not be related to your current issue imo

I can appreciate how you feel about being paranoid. Put a new battery in mine a few weeks ago and still say a quick prayer just before turning the key to start it!!
