Hi

OK sounds like you have a fault code as you ECU check engine light has illuminated - you'll need to connect the 2 black plugs (at the bottom of your steering column) and turn on the ignition but not the engine. The Check engine light should flash intermitantly and if you take a looksey at yours and you do have an irregular flash then I'll tell you how to read the codes.

MATE DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR ANY FURTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have PM

Your MAF sensor is faulty and driving the car could lead to serious damage ! You will need to buy a replacement - can I suggest Subaru main dealer for a new replacement (circa 300) or a Subaru Breaker like Grade A who will charge you about 60 IIRC for a 'tested' replacement

Sorry to everybody else out there but in case you wondering how the hell I found this out - FW Pm'ed me to say he has 2 slow flashes and 3 fast ones

Slow flash = multiple of 10

fast flash = multiple of 1

So 2 slow flashes followed by 3 fast ones = code 23 which is Mass Air Flow Sensor Failure/problem.

cheers nelson for that cheap track day motor developing rapidly .
also while about the abs is very very sensitive and comes on at the drop of a hat any clues or may just disconnect totally.
also has had some trick looking suspension fitted adjustabl;e top struts mounts the shocks themselves are apexi and look serious bit of kit but need softening for the road only did 100 miles yesterday and feel like back needs traction or swedish massage etc

No probs mate - a friend of mines Scoob went POP in a big way due to a MAF sensor a few years ago and ever since I have watched the thing like a hawk 8)

Easy fix though - just a call to Grade A for a replacment - piece of cake to replace and it'll be business as usual. Oh yea and you'll need to do an ECU reset once you've fitted the replacement.

ABS - yes it can be a bit touchy and I have to admit that i preferred my earlier WRX that didn't have it ops: So yes just remove the relay etc for it or better still do as you suggested and diconnect it altogether if you don't like it

As for the suspension - usually theres a top mount screw you can adjust to make the ride softer or fimer ? Anything like this on yours ??

Sounds like you've got yourself a bit of a track weapon there though
