Regards mainer52,
Problem engaging first gear I had a similar problem in mine turned out the seals in my master cylinder were very badly worn so it could not push the slave cylinder to engage clutch fully but bit spectical of yours try this if you pump the clutch pedal 2-3 times will it go in then if it does its a faulty hydraulic pressure problem either down to master cylinder or slave cylinder. How old is clutch? and what kind? also turn engine off can you select first now? if you cant could be a box problem worn syncro or bent selector fork hope it helps

Hi thanks for reply mate, i have tried your suggestion of pumping clutch turning off etc still no joy, there is no record of clutch in vehicle history but the clutch feels great, a guy at work suggested the syncro or selector fork, do you have any idea how big a job either of these are an if they can be done by removing the interior centre console or if it requires more major work?

Didnt spot the reply Clutches explained Have a look at the link here and the video from Andrew ''Brumbrum'' how many miles on the clutch???? it might be starting to drag explained in the video could be either the clutch faulty or a box problem would want to be sure before you start taking the box apart and it only is the clutch at fault can you get it to a specialist to see what he thinks, and if the box needs to come out its a big enough job would have to be dropped out while car on a ramp (2 post lift) some syncros and gearbox parts not to expensive except for diffs and lsds their expensive but its the labour that costs ya hope it helps
