Understeer problem

Hi everybody, did a SWPC Sprint @the w/end and suffered from near terminal u/steer. checked the tryes this morning and found them badly shredded, all the rib edges had gone, am running Toyo TS-I,s @32 psi all round. Have spent all day racking my brains to find a reason for it.Do i need stiffer ARB @front, wrong pressures, as nothing is adjustable at front as far as i can see. It was almost like driving with a solid rear axle.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Andy,Scoobynut
ps. or do i just go and buy an Evo
Sorry this should be in Tech. General

Hi Andy, from my limited experience,
you were on a sprint so you were on the power out of the corners quite hard I guess.
putting 2+2 together, from the recent group buy read up about anti lift kits, understeer from exiting corners at speed is common.
Would (dont know if you have them) fitting an ALk stop this or ease the problem?

trying to help

alright scoobynut
just had an anti lift kit , front and rear links and 30mm lowered tein springs fitted ... it has taken the understeer right out of the car, its like its on rails, you would never believe the difference ......about 500 ish to have it done.

Got the same understeer problem under braking.

Driving in Finland with the car on (very good) studded tyres. It's an STi 2003 and you cannot balance it under braking to throw it into a corner and slide the back around like you can do with another car.

Spoke to a test driver from Subaru who is doing tests with the Gr.n vehicles and he said the only solution is to slow down hard before corner, turn in and get the power on and keep your foot to the floor. It will first slightly understeer and then shoot out of the corner like a rocket.

Tried it. Works better, although you have to anticipate oversteer by already correcting before the back goes at exit of the corner.

A larger rear sway will help with the understeer, also...

An uprated rear Anti Roll Bar mate is what hes talking about - Whiteline do a non-adjustable and adjustable. Couple this with solid drop links and this will REALLY tighten the back end and assist in understeer. 8)
