Exclamation noticed this any ideas

ok so today got up dressed etc and thought ill go for the papers scooby style
anyway got in the car bit cold a nd started her up
usual choke on etc then i noticed when i pushed the acce;ator pedal down there was a noise like air being sucked in but he car hesataited almost like it was going to stall
done it again and again gave it some revs just a little and it smoothed out
the wide god love her said she has noticed it before
so any ideas
thinking this may be realted to my staged accleration
was wondering if it the MAF
done the usual tests and all ok but chnages the spaeks a couple of days ago and noticed there running rich
what do ya think

Id try the Maf, (Iacv)Idle air control valve you can clean these with carb cleaner but dont use anything else on Maf as very sensitive did you say you changed the plugs, are they gapped right?

yeah denso plats the car is running alot better since then
but theres something just niggling me with this one pick up some carb cleaner tomorrow
feel like the car has lost its orginal punchbut everyone is telling me its just me
hey bud can you keep an eye out for a sti intercooler version 5/6 me thinks and im looking for some stainless steel headers

can u reset the ecu, have u had some crap fuel and the car has backed off a bit?
also worth a reset with this nice cold air.

cleaned the maf tonoight with carb cleaner and a tiny wee brush we use for fibre optics the crap that cam away was plenty but now the car satrts and then cuts out
might have been the maf on its last legs leaving for awhile to see if it settles might be some carb cleaner still in the maf somewhgere
any ideas

Did you clean the Idle air control valve also be worth changing the seal on it to it about 2quid from subaru the iacv sits on top of trottle body up over the trottle position sensor http://www.subaru-impreza.org/forum/...iagrams-56.jpg

yeah done that last week
the car wont stay on and if you try to revs cuts out do looking for maf theres one on fleebay im bidding on one but there are others

Also you check the oxygen sensors when they go it gives a similar symptom aswell car idles all over the place and nearly cuts out and can cut out the engine to, just check the resistance with a multi meter on sensor and measure the values when engine cold to hot if you can run it that long to warm up compare it to a manual if readings off change the o2 sensor any engine light up?

where are the 02 sensors might change them aswell

Id see if MAF sensor will sort it if not test the o2 sensors first dead easy as they normally cost €100-120 a pop here for just one so instead of chucking money at it gotta be sure thats the fault dont want to be throwing money away if it done sort the problem........ o2 sensors locations are on exhaust one on downpipe just behind turbo and 2nd before 2nd cat before centre section I think
