Shopping List

It has not taken long and the yearning for more power from my wrx has taken over.
My thinking is that I will buy all the parts required and then have them fitted and mapped all at the same time (it will also take a little while to save up f##king kids and xmas).
I was thinking 350-400 bhp and the car is a 2001 bugeye the only mod being a blitz nur cat back.

What I am hoping is that people could post their wish lists of parts to make this kind of bhp then it will give me an idea of what is needed and involved.

Cheers Dan

Re: Shopping List

350 and 400 are 2 totally different targets in my eyes, 350 is a lot easier and cheaper to achieve,
What you then need to say is what its going to be used for, a daily driver and the odd track day or something you plan to use a lot on the track(FMIC then),
If it was me id be tempted to get a good strong 350/350 which is more then enough for a good fast road car imho.
not saying 400 isnt possible but is it really needed ?

Re: Shopping List

Sorry I was a bit vague the car will be a daily driver and i guess i would want most of the power for overtaking not looking for top end speed
I dont plan on track days .

The main thing is I dont want an intractable beasty as the wife needs to drive the car.
If 350 is more attainable and would prove to be a better option then i would be happy at that.
(I guess i get carried away thinking that 400 horses would be usable in the real world)

Re: Shopping List

Personally I would keep it around the 330 mark so that the gearbox stays in one piece. 350/350 is box breaking ground.

330 is an easy step:

- VF35 turbo
- STi pink injectors
- decat
- STi TMIC
- remap

Job done.

Re: Shopping List

If I decided to go for more than 330 how hard is that and how long do gearboxs last. I mean I dont do launches from stopped and most of the time i drive sensible as i value my licence and kids.

Re: Shopping List

Trying to do him a favour - honestly.

400 in a 2001 wrx will be a very expensive step..

- good 20G
- 650cc injectors
- FMIC (probably)
- big maf induction kit
- good clutch
- gearbox (6 speed)

yes I know enginetuner's 5 speed lasted to 500+ but we all know that 350 is about the limit and this is a daily driver and getting a car to the 400 level will ruin it and ruin the fun of driving it.

If have a WRX and want to get over 350 - sell it and buy an STi - it will be much cheaper and will end up a better car.

Re: Shopping List

Really though, a properly specced/mapped 330bhp is a stunning road car. My advice would be get it to that level first - then decide if you want more rather than aiming for impressive pub figures.

Re: Shopping List

Thanks and I do appreciate all advice

I think to be fair your advice is spot on and I should be a bit more realistic it would also seem that 330 is acheived for a sensible amount of cash

Wife just said it you want big bhp buy an EVO so I will be off now to drown her:l ol:

It will shock you as to how quick a well set up 330bhp is on the road. MORE than enough for overtaking with ease

You can pick up VF35 turbos for reasonable money along with STi pink injectors. (500 tops) , full decat exhaust and add on the remap from your chosen mapper (i head down that area regularly) and ... your wife will change her opinion of evos
