Feels like driving with hand brake on

Hi,

...and before any1 asks No the handbrake wasn't on

Basically my car feels like it's being driven with the handbrake on, my boost has been playing up for a little while now (a month maybe) and I think I've self diagnosed that with threads from SIDC to a boost solonoid problem, maybe this is related, any ideas?

The car also felt like it was red-lining at 3000rpm so no turbo action at all was possible.

Cheers,
Spanky.

It's just been suggested to me that it could be the clutch that has gone.

no sign of clutch slip? would have thought that would show up first surely if the clutch was on its way out.
How do you drive the car, lots of heavy acceleration?

How does it reva t stand still, freely?

Trying to help ya

Cheers Buzz,

What would clutch slip feel like?

yeah quite a bit of heavy acceleration ops: I think that would be quite fair to say.

It revved fine at stand still, there has been quite a stink coming from the car for the past week, which is partly why my Dad suggested the clutch (plus I killed the clutch on his car when he lent it to me years ago and I don't think I'm fully forgiven yet ).

Thanks,
Spanky.

If you are getting the clutch smell then it is a good possibility the clutch has/is going......

You should notice revs building but not speed on hard acceleration

sorry for late reply,
more info there now, ditto what pete says, clutch slip is as it sounds mate, the engine revs rise but not your road speed, more noticeable when you pull away, or hard boot it- followed by a nasty smell.

sorry but its new clutch time, dont know who to recommend your way.

It looks like I mis-diagnosed the boost solonoid problem as the clutch on its way out then ops:

Many thanks :5:

Its okay I know just where to go for parts and fitting.

Now it means cabs for the last couple days of work well at least I can make good use of pub lunches now

Cheers,
Spanky.
