Brake Fluid

Hi all,

I'm going to get one of the brake pipes replaced with a copper one because it is showing signs of corrosion. I have two questions :

1, what brake fluid should I buy or should I just use what the garage put in ?

2, will braided hoses break the bank if I choose to change them at the same time ? ?

Thanks

I use DOT4 Ferodo fluid find it great but if I was going for uprated braided lines Id get DOT 5.1 fluid and keep the same pads I have all round the DS2500 Ferodo Impreza Brake pads and Discs from EBC red stuff, Black Diamond, Tarox G88, Pagid Blue and Pagid Black and Ferodo ds2500 : heres a link for price range of braided lines

Re: Brake Fluid

cheers fella, will have a look and cost it up. Makes sense to get it all done in one hit, might change the pads too because they've been on for at least 3 years. Not sure what brand of disc I have but they're all drilled and vented, they aren't warped and look like they have plenty of life left in them.

Re: Brake Fluid

Dot 5 it is, how much would I need ? It's about 15 a bottle. Braided hoses will be about 60 and pads will be 180. Add that to the 50 to replace the corroded pipe and it should be stopping nice. Not a bad way to spend 300 !!
The calipers on my classic seem to be original and I think they are 4 pots ??? Someone has painted them red unless the imports are all red ?

Re: Brake Fluid

No, you will need between 1ltr and a 1ltr and half.

I would go for 1.5ltr or 3 bottles.

Cheers
