Angry overheating...still

my 98 wrx import is getting on my nerves... i bought the car for 600 knowing it had a problem of overheating it started when the old owner changed the radiator, what keeps happening to it is that i top it up, remove as much air as i can, run it with radiator cap off with heating on full, while its doing this the heating keeps gtting hot and cold and as soon as i put the radiator cap on it the water blows out of it, comes out even faster when you put your foot down. ive replaced thermostat and its even worse when the thermostat is in, everyone says its airlocked but ive tried everything. it seems as if its not circulating to well as the radiator goes cold. anyone reckon the water pump is knackered. any help wouldbe appreciated as im starting to give up on it....

It might not be Head Gasket at all best get it to a garage and get it checked over bubbling in expansion tank can normally be just down to air trapped in cooling system did you try to free any air in the system??

You losing any coolant? could be a slit in a pipe and letting air in try hose clips top and bottom of rad hoses they were a problem for me awhile back they were loose and was leaking a tiny bit hope it helps

Re: overheating...still

HELP GUYS!!

I have recently bought a 94 WRX import, very powerfull unit. Due to standard clocks being really dark i changed them to some that are alot brighter, in doing this now the car seems to be overheating??? The temp gauge goes through the roof, and when starting her up she's really groggy? I dont understand why, 3 of the 4 clocks are really stiff and dont give out accurate readings of mph, revs (doesnt want to work at all) and temp gauge goes sky high. Can anyone with any suggestions help me. thanks Gareth

Re: overheating...still

You may be really lucky and it was knackered and has leaked but if a month or so down the line your radiator or a hose goes id say the head gasket could be going, its still worth getting a block test done to rule it out as you could be paying and paying.

Re: overheating...still

As Matt said above get the tests done to make sure engine still healthy if it is all good then the dash out to get at heater matrix and change the heater core thats the problem it holds the coolant and it leaking dont forget to get all new seals to hope engine ok
