help engine managment light

hi all i have a 2003 wrx sl sometimes if i accelerate hard i will get the e/m light on which will stay on for a few hours and then go off the next time i drive it the car has no cats on and was wounderin if this is what is causing it it has had a lambder sensor fitted but was told that it hadnt been remaped since prodrive had it when it was new any suggestions would it be serious if the light goes off after a while obviusly it will be logged on system

check connections on lambda sensor, mine used to do exactly same thing, if not get sensor checked out,
