Re: what is my car?

Could be a version 3 or 4 .... We need the model code.

The model code is on the VIN plate.

VIN plate location.

The 98 STi has a red inlet manifold like this one.

It is a WRX (E). 280 Bhp though and 33.5 Kg/m torque so power wise not too much down on an STi.

Have a look here for specs;

Re: what is my car?

Probably been uprated to 4 pots. Wouldn't surprise me as the 2 pots are pants and it is often done. Do you have a copy of the original Japanese registration documents by any chance? Will say on there what you have but your model code says WRX.

Post pics of your car inside & out. Do you have a steering wheel with "Red Stitching" ?

Unfortunatly you wouldn`t be the first person to buy a scooby that isnt what they said it was Still sounds a nice motor though

Re: what is my car?

The STi's had the following differences to the WRX;

EXTERIOR and ENGINE BAY
Colour coded side skirts
Pink Subaru grill badge
STi fog covers (though could get fogs as an option)
Gold alloys with black centre cap with STi written in red
STi badge on lower half of front wing behind the front wheels
Red Manifold
STi front strut brace
STi sticker on top edge of intercooler

INTERIOR
REd stitching on inside of steering wheel
white face dials
Red STi stitching on front seats

Probably lots more differences but if you don't have most (if not all) of that then you don't have and STi.

Re: what is my car?

theres alot of 'standard' scoobs for sale that have mods, if you have the 4 pot brakes then thats a big bonus, scoobs brakes arn't brill as standard, the origioanl 2 pots fromt eh early classics being the worst of the bunch
