No Drive, urgent help please :)

Well...got my scooby only a few days ago and i think i f"""ed it already....about to drive off, into first gear (tried to take off fast mind you) accellerate realeased clutch then heard a lound clung...and no more drive in any gear...all i hear is a grinding noise when i engage into any gear...

had a look underneath and it looks like the front passanger drive shaft? is damaged near the back of the wheel...could this cause it or did i stuff the gearbox or clutch?

please any help is greatly appreciated as I wanted to get away for the weekend and now looks like i aint going anywhere..

Re: No Drive, urgent help please :)

If you 'popped' the clutch with lots of revs on..... sudden torque shock to the transmission could have caused it...?

Re: No Drive, urgent help please :)

your not really ment to "launch" and impreza unless its setup with uprated twin plate clutch, dogbox or some other stronger unit, launch control,etc....lauching a standard scoob will result in some serious damage,as you've just proved....

could be any number of factors as to why its gone, clutch plate could well have been weak, flywheel may have disovled on contact when engauging the clutch, bearing may have been on its last legs,or there is another reason, belive it or not,you can "scare" a scoob gearbox,it happened to me a few times and happened to a few scoob owners i know, occasionally after a hard quick change from 1st to 2nd you can lose 3rd or 4th,not sure why but it seems to happen,i've said to others that IF this happens, pull over, shut down, depress pedal and slip through the box,if all goes in ok,fire up n off you go..

Re: No Drive, urgent help please :)

if you 'tried to take off fast' then def sounds like you've broken something.

might be clutch or gearbox, if it was a duff drive shaft you'd still have some drive to three wheels even if the 4th was clunking and nackered.
