squeeling noise from the rear left side

Hi all

I've not long bought my first impreza, It's an 02 plate GX. Since riding in it I've noticed a high squeal from the left rear side when I go above 60-70 mph. It doesn't start instantly but after I've been riding for a little while. Does anyone know what it might be as I've spoken to a couple a garages and there not entirely sure. all advice is much appreciated!!

Cheers, Dan

Re: squeeling noise from the rear left side

Brake binding, wheel bearing, or maybe air coming in around the door seal?

Re: squeeling noise from the rear left side

Thank you mate!
Thought it might be the wheel bearing, dont think it's the door seal as it only happens when it feels like it!! The advice is much appreciated. Don't want to get sticthed over by a garage. cheers

Yep, recon you've got a sticky rear caliper. Had the same happen on mine a while back. Prob easy enough to strip and clean up although i managed to find a cheap good replacement on evilbay and just banged that on mine. Been fine since ;-)

Re: squeeling noise from the rear left side

My money's on the caliper. Rear lhs is closest to the kerb so spends a lot of its life submerged in all the crap by the side of the road. The way you've described it sounds exactly like mine was prior to replacing caliper. If it's been binding for a while may have warped disk ever so slighlty so when you get a bit of speed up you hear the squeak. Depending on how bad it's sticking ( if it is )......take the car for a drive, say 10-20 miles and when you stop have a feel of the rear wheels. This is how i ended up tracing the fault on mine.....the rear lh wheel was roasting while the rh side was only warm. Just my 2 pennies ;-)
