Niggly gearbox trouble

hi all me again, lol.

my gearbox on my classic wagon is smooth when changing gear but when you come to slow down at a junction if you select 1st gear before you come to a complete stop it allways grinds into gear its fine if you completely stop and select the gear is this common? Cheers.

Re: Niggly gearbox trouble

it is if you build gearboxes....
on saying that the selector is on top of the box,but it will need to be dropped to get to it..

Re: Niggly gearbox trouble

Should always wait to a complete stop fella before you put it in to first gear a gearbox specialist over here has told me this before he comes into garage now and again he said it just a stationary gear so it happens in some cars he said saying that I dont know if it would happen in mine if I was to let the car roll and put it into first gear but I dont want to try either cause it will wreck synchro wait till you stopped to put it into gear ring up gearbox specialists some prob will say take the box out to get money off you but sure some will tell you what I said
