Re: Map sensor

would not bother mate 98 onwards mafs are not as strong as the old
ones but if andy says do it then go ahead seems alot of hassle for a bit
of boost that you could get from a good remap if you have not had that done

Re: Map sensor

Hi its not the maf sensor its the map sensor. Im having a bit of trouble hitting the fuel cut in 4th and 5th and from what i can gather the map sensor will raise the fuel cut so i can run a bit more boost.

Re: Map sensor

Why don't you just buy an aftermarket MAP sensor that's rated to 3bar and has the correct connector that will fit the engine loom.

MAP sensors on Newage are rated at 2bar, not sure what classics are but either way an off the shelf upgrade would make sense and it's future proofed then if you decide to have some bigger/better mods.

Re: Map sensor

3bar MAP sensors are available from MOCOM and Thor Racing although they could be the GM/AC Delco types, you could try Roger Clark Motorsport and Zen Performance as they may be able to get you one to fit exactly your application or fit it for you if you're not confident.

Expect to pay from 60 - 90.

I think there is one that comes with Apexi Boost controller but i haven't seen them listed on their site and you'd probably have to buy the whole controller but it's a great way of getting accurate boost control.

Re: Map sensor

Can you post pics up of the new and old MAP sensors so i can take a look at both looms. It's difficult to offer further help without seeing what's what.

With only 3 wires on each and with most automotive wiring colour schemes being very similar to eachother across the board for a given manufacturer it's a fair bet that Subaru will carry over similar coloured wires from previous years vehicles and there shouldn't be too much of a difference.

As an example the cabin, and engine wiring loom for an 01/02 bugeye is very similar to 03/04/05 cars barring some small differences but on the whole a lot of the loom is replicated right the way through a whole car.
