Tiptronic G/box Slipping

Has anyone got any ideas what makes the tiptronic gearbox on a WRX slip in between gears???
When you drive the only way this car will change gear is if you deaccellerate!!

Cheers
Frank

Re: Tiptronic G/box Slipping

Do you have the option to put it into manual know the Legacy B4s do a friend had one you could plus or minus the gears by either tapping gear lever or by buttons on steering wheel or you can just leave it in automatic, and when its in Automatic and floor the car then box will drop the gear for the right power you want and so on and when you slow down it will do the change for you if thats what you mean. However if you think its a problem is they proper and enough gearbox fluid in it they different for Manual and Automatic boxes, are all connection plugs connected to box and they not worn or corroded?

Re: Tiptronic G/box Slipping

The box doesnt have the option of manual ,all it has is the normal auto features, it does have the power button. This car actually belongs to a friend of mine, he took me out for a spin in it last night .It seems to pull away ok but when the turbo cuts in the engine is really over reving, then the only way the box changes gear is if you take your foot off the accellerator for a split second , it then changes to the next gear.

I bouught my Legnum VR4 from this guy ,it also had a Tiptronic g/box problem!! what an animal!!
What ATF would i use inthis box, i know that when i re-done the Legnum box i used Amsoil ATF (fully synthetic) bloody expensive stuff!!

Cheers
Frank

Hi Frank Id ask the dealer whats the best for it they tell ya did you check the level of oil in the box already by the dipstick normally with Automatics you let the engine run say after a drive and check box dipstick then to see proper level on flat ground and fill her up while engine running

Always thought the sport button on an auto just held the engine revs for longer than normal for a bit more acceleration before changing gear.

Thats right a buddys B4 Legacy has the power button press it and it does exactly what you said lets you get the high revs and best power out of the engine

Must mean frankieboy is looking at an auto rather than a semi-auto.
