rear suspension serious problem!

hey, bit of a worrying one

last night noticed a wheel bearing noise from passenger side rear, didn't think much of it just planned to book it in to get it fixed...

BUT!

this morning went outside to have a little look, and the coil spring passenger side is actually touching the tyre, as in not just fractionally touching but properly!

can anyone help with regards to a possible cause, i thought maybe broken coil... but its almost unheard of on the rear

oh its a 2001 mica red bugeye by the way....

any help would be muchly appreciated

Hi,

No shocks in the Prodrive Performance Pack/kit. It sounds like you have lowering springs or sports suspension kit.

the spring would have roughly kept it in check..have seen shockers, should we say, disassemble whilst driving..
if i remember correctly KYB are the O/E fitment on most scoobs, could always try some monro sensatracks...

Re: rear suspension serious problem!

Just a related question, as Im thinking of buying a Scoob in the next few weeks. Is it true that on Subarus you dont get much of a noise from wheel bearing when it's going, and instead it just fails completely?

Never heard of this.

Don't imagine that being the case though tbh. Had a wheel bearing wear out on a previous car (BMW) and it was fairly audible. Then again anything is possible .

Thats what I mean though, on most cars you hear it, but I was told that on a Subaru you don't, or at least for not as long.

Wheel bearings ahh ya normally you hear them whine then gets fairly loud after awhile and when it fails it rumbles then. They is a bit of play in my back ones in my Sti V6 RA comparing to the front they no play at all getting no whine outa back ones but would imagine it would go like what I said above like normal cars had a guy that came into garage before he left the wheel bearing go so bad the bearing failed got so hot it seized to the hub and locked up the wheel
