Pete can I ask do you crunch your box much ?? cos I did a change of fluid about a month ago and was shocked to see a shard of metal that looked like a tooth within the gunge that had formed on the magnet. I do remember however having missed a gear when motoring along It doesn't generally mean Diff problems but could show you that your box has had a bit of abuse ?? You will generally see some metal filings etc on it (this is normal) otherwise its a case of a bit more mechanical sympathy for the Gearbox

Yes, over the past two and a half years I have had a few miss selections of gears (grateing noise).

Thats what it will be - as I say I had quite a nasty cruch (missed gear) whilst doing a bit of Fast Road driving and I saw the resultant damage on the magnet

Now I don't let the clutch out until I know for sure that shes in gear - even if this means I lose a few more rpm. Don't want to have to fork out for a new Box

So now what..... Should I still go to the dealer with the evidance as I have warranty and get him to check it out....

Or should I leave it for now and see how it goes??????

Yes I'd take the car to the Dealer as you still have warranty and tell them what you noticed on the sump magnet and that you would like them to take a look at the box for you.

No worries - the metal on the magnet isn't the end of the world Pete - just means that the box has had a bit of abuse (as in missed gears etc). But with Warranty you can just take it in and let them have a look. Scooby Gearboxes are unfortunately not the strongest around

Let us know how you get on

Here's a picture of the bits found on the drain plug
Not to clear but gives you an idea.
Remember this is the first oil change from new 2.5 years old.
I think they only change it officially every 3 years / 30,000 miles ?????

Reason for oil change was that the concensus on most scooby bbs's is that gear change is smoother with syntrax and as I have always had a stiff reverse (oh er misses) I thought I would give it a go, sure enough gear change especially reverse is better.........
