Noise from dials

I've got an annoying noise which started last week coming from the dials. it sounds like the cable spinning, I think it must be the rev counter because it happens when stationary too.
How can I stop this ?

Funny as you say this have a tiny noise from mine to like a squeeky-stratching noise but its the black plastic stick that you push to reset the trip for the kilometres in my jap import it seems to rub off the plastic surround for the intrument cluster could be your problem I just live with mine
