boosting problem? any thoughts

Hi iv had my first scooby about 4 weeks its great its a 98 uk 2000 turbo, iv but a boost gauge on and found its only boosting to 0.5bar the last owner has changed the air filter to an induction kit but other than that its standard
i have been running 95 fuel recently changed to 97 as iv been told this could alter things. what should i expect the preasure to be? I Have tried a manual boost controler i had for a previous car but it spikes to 1.5bar then drops to 0.6 so thats been binned any ideas are welcomed as i dont know where to start cheers phill.

Try checking pipework for boost leaks, also check the dump valve. Soemthing else you could try is cleaning the boost solenoid.

Can't see the induction kit making any difference mate? Have got a hks mushroom filter on mine and it hold boost fine. Maybe worth getting the ecu code read ( plugged in ) although no idea of any reputable garages in your area mate. Roger Collins is good as is Alan Jefferies but they're both prob a bit far from you ( Cornwall/Plymouth )!

Induction kit may be the problem. Some people do have problems running induction kits, not often but it does happen. If you have the orignial air box might be worth sticking it back on see if that helps. Also check the air filter. If t is old and gunked up that will affect how much air is available.

Any chance you could drop me a copy of that diagram??

Mine seems to have a bleed valve or some kind of boost controller next to the standard solenoid, but both still seem to be T'd in!

Pic's....
