Wiper issue!

Got an issue with my Wipers hitting the black plastic bit at the base of the window. Only does it when the window is properly wet and slippy and the whole lot just slides straight off the window and whacks the plastic with a fairly loud wallop. There's obviously some play somewhere but don't really know where to look. Any ideas anyone coz its getting on my nerves.

Heres a pic of where it's hitting.

Re: Wiper issue!

Alright Wayne would say that the wiper motor out of sequence a bit thats why it hitting if you know what i mean and when the wiper wipes back fully does it go back fully like mine here on second pic????? just as what Pete said below you can take the wiper arms off but id mark the position of the two of them first in the original position so if you had any more problems down a long the line you can adjust um more but id take the both off and mark the original postion first and say move your passenger side by maybe 2 notches but do the drivers arm same as the passenger side move in small amounts that way if you move say the drivers arm 5notches say and passenger 2notches the both arms might hit see if that works...............

Hi Wayne.

Idea! If you remove the wiper arm then replace the arm in a different position on the splines/shaft. The arm might be further away from the plastic.

Re: Wiper issue!

Cheers guys.

That had occurred to me. Problem is that there is a lot of play in the arm itself so when it is at rest in it's normal position i can push it down with no effort at all so that it hits the plastic. Only hits plastic when the windscreen is wet. Dry no problem at all.

I'll try what you suggest anyway and see if it helps. 1 more question though; is it just the 1 bolt holding on the wiper arms? I tried to pull them off yesterday morning and couldn't get them to budge with that bolt off.

Re: Wiper issue!

Once that 14mm bolt off it should come off with a bit of gentle persuation use a bit of force but not to much to break it could trying WD40 or penetrating fluid let it soak into it and that should free it
