couple of queries

1st up after a blast the other night i noticed a burning oil smell and a bit of reek coming from the vent and a wee bit from unde the car, i thought it might be a leaky gasket dripping down onto the zorst, but the car doesnt seem to use any oil but i noticed the gearbox was covered in the stuff and seems low on oil, after a bit of cleaning up im wondering if it could be a couple of leaky driveshaft seals. im planing on sticking some cheapo gear oil in it then taking it for a run to see if that is the problem. if it is the seals are they easy enough to replace?
2nd when the car was in at the garage to see why it was running lean, he said it was to do with a hose that goes onto the turbo, apparantly this hose can be a common problem on scooby's. could this be the hose that goes from the air intake to the turbo as this seems to have a very small split in it and i think the car might be running a bit lumpy again
any help or advice here is appreciated

Re: couple of queries

1 more than likely the gearbox oil seals form the driveshafts hence the low oil easy enough to do if you know how to do it right and save you money from going to a mechanic
2 have a look at ''modifications sect'' on ''how subarus factory boost control system works'' on 1st page and let me know what pipe is cut hope it helps

Re: couple of queries

it looks like a rubber joining piece that goes from the front of the turbo, under the inlet manifold and onto the plastic air intake

You put it in the hole where the gearbox dipstick is normaly you could fit a funnel to a garden hose do perfect and stick it into hole and fill it up to max...............
