Leak in the front differential seal

I have a 1997 Impreza Outback Sport Wagon 2.2L

And I have a question. Today I was told that I have a leak in the front differential seal and the auto shop tried to find a replacement seal, but said they couldn't find one with their supplier.

Then they wondered if I'd have to completely replace the transmission which would be very expensive. For now, we're just keeping an eye on the leak to see how bad it is.

Has anyone had this problem? If so, how was it resolved.

Thanks so much,

Ginger Cat
