Hi,,

I know what you mean..

For example, when I start the car fresh in the morning to go to work the clutch is fine, but, after a few miles into my 15 mile journey the same happens, it quite scary because the clutch doesn't seem to bite until the very end of the pedal travel. Does this mean my clutch is shot? with only 53,000 on the clock? But what confuses me is why is it fine when the car is cold?

Mine does that as well and its down to the clutch slave cylinder on top of the gearbox.

If you push the clutch right to the floor then side step it (drop it) you will probably find that the clutch returns to normal.

Hope that helps

Re: light clutch pedal?

Easy to change m8, just held on with 2 bolts and the usual banjo bolt / washer thingy for the hydraulic connection. Same thing as with the brake calipers.
It also has a bleed nipple from memory to help with getting the air out of the system.
Must do mine at some point, just getting too used to side stepping the clutch to getting it working again lol

Re: light clutch pedal?

Dont think so m8, just undo the banjo connection to the cylinder, wrap it in rags to collect any spilt fluid, undo the 2 bolts holding the cylinder to the gearbox and refit the new one in reverse.
Then bleed the system as normal using the nipple.

Never tried to change it m8 but i cant imagine it would be any harder than bleeding the brakes which is easy if you get one of these non return valve / one man bleeding kits from halfords etc.

Ps you can probably use a 6mm bolt and nut and 2 large washers to seal off the banjo connection once its disconnected from the cylinder. It may help stop too much air entering the system / loosing too much fluid.

Hope that helps
