Gear Box

Gear Box on my V5 STi RA Ltd seems to finally wany to give up. As with a lot of people it's mainly 5th gear. 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd, 3rd-4th are all fine. The problem is with 4th-5th and now 5th back down to 4th. At anything but the lowest revs it will crunch horrendously so i'm assuming synchro issues. I'll take it to get looked at shortly.

My first question is; what is the best solution price wise and /or reliability wise? get it repaired, get a replacement box (2nd hand reconditioned) or upgrade the box?

This leads on to the 2nd question; Anybody have any idea what is needed to upgrade the 5 speed box in a classic to a later RA 6 speed? Is it financially viable?

Cheers in advance,

Wayne.

Know mines a uk wayne but heres the breakdown of cost to get 5th sorted based on a uk box(though run castrol syntrax gear oil now couldnt get on with the millers stuff)just ignore clutch/flywheel cost etc.

At least youve got an idea what youre looking at roughly.

Cheers Dave, you have no idea what a relief that is. looks like around £350.00 for what i need in parts so around 80,000 yen with labor over here in Japan. I'm a much happier bunny now.

Thanks again Dave.
