Uneven brake pad wear.

My rear brake pads are wearing out over twice as fast as my front. When I went to change discs and pads at 100000K my rear pads were shot and my front pads were worn but still ok.

Now at 137000k my rear pads are shot again (grinding sound from rear).

Any explanations or solutions for such a dramatic difference in wear?

Be gentle, I'm a noob.

Re: Uneven brake pad wear.

Other than a fault ex sticking pot.

The 04's have Brake assist. I.E you slam on the brakes and the ABS unit makes the rears work harder than a MY02. So the rears get worn more. Do you do alot of hard braking?

I don't think that I'm very hard on the brakes at all but that may be a personal opinion I mean no-one ever thinks their driving is bad. I'm not often aggressive and I downshift and everything.

Re: Uneven brake pad wear.

Brakes are for stopping. Gears for going faster. Don't downshift to slow down. Unless you're going downhill and need engine braking.

Gearbox wear is harder to fix than replacing brake pads !!
