hi hope some 1 can help, i had a engine management light come on, have had it checked and it comes back with a code which is po171 has something to do with emissions

Hi.


P0171 = Fuel trim malfunction (A/F too lean).


Is your engine idling OK ? If it's not. Have a look at the engine bay for any signs of loose pipes/connections.

It could also mean the front oxygen sensor is dead.

hi pete would i have to change the sensor straight away or could it keep for a while, i have had my mate who has a subaru computer turn the malfunction light off and he hasnt come back on since, when u say look at the engine bay do u mean at the bootom of the engine, im useless sorry

If it is the front oxygen sensor. This sensor measure the oxygen content of the exhaust gas.
