Engine Code Confusion..

So looking at the very informative posting by 2002pete back in May 2006:

My car is somewhat confusing me... It is a UK Turbo 2000 but the engine code GC8GK8D matches an RB5... What does this mean??

Mine is a: JF1GC8KD3XG03xxxx

JF1 = Japan
GC8 = 2.0L Impreza saloon (Classic)

KD3 = ????? What's this then?

XG04XXXX = So what year MY model is she? Registration was Sept 99.. but 10th digit is X.

I found on the other VIN plate on the nearside wing that the
Model is a GC8GK8D, with Option code EM..

I did have an S Reg 99 Turbo 2000 about 6 years ago and I do feel (or rather think) this one drives differently... Someways better otherways worse.

I.e Smoother but not as tight and quick responding in the steering. Not that mine isn't responsive but my other would twitch with the slightest of steering wheel movement. Current one is a more forgiving.

cheers guys...
