Green panel filters

Have heard good reports of the Green panel filters, but was wondering if it was worth fitting on its own or would I just be wasting my money ?

On the assumption that "more is going in", would it only be effective with a freer flowing back box to let "more out" ? or will it make an improvement on its own ?

Car is an '04 WRX Btw.

Cheers.

I don't think you will be wasting your money.

Fitting a green panel filter on its own should allow the car to rev more freely so you should certainly feel the difference with it fitted.

Ok, thanks for your help guys.

Think i'll put that on my shopping list then.

Just as a matter of interest, will it make the car run weaker, or would the engine management automatically compensate for the extra air coming in ?

Also will it have any noticable effect on MPG, good or bad ?

it'll cope with the extra airflow no probs, its only when you put a full decat or more serious mod like turbo etc it has problems.

prob wont notice much diff in MPG

in theory every now and again, but tbh for 40 wait two years and just bin it to get a new one and then you wont have to worry about small stuck particles

Cant go wrong with a green panel filter, i have one here going free if anyone wants it. You can buy cleaning fluid for them but have always used warm water and fairy liquid.

Finally got my Green panel filter today.

Just fitted it....and well couldn't say the car actually feels "faster" but it does seem to pick up a little better, maybe a llittle less lag, and just slightly more induction noise, a bit more of a "whoosh" sound from the turbo.

One thing I was a little dissapointed with, is that it wouldn't fit straight out of the box. It was too wide and too long, so I had to trim some lugs off of the rubber to get it to sit nicely in the airbox.

Why ??? Surely they know about this !!
