Tumble genarator valve

Can anyone help me I have a 2001 impreza the engine managment light is on i have taken it to the garage twice. Some times the light goes out and the car gets the power back the garage i took it to says it is just built up carbon and it should not need a new part. Is there any sort of engine cleaner i can use.

Hello michael, I can tell you whats the problem with this as it has happened to mine.
It only seems to happen to the bugeye version and its only a sensor connected to the tuble generator but subaru wont sell the sensor alone, It has to be cold with the whole tumble generator assembly which if I remember is £415. Total rip off as it is just the sensor probably only costing around 50p to make.
What you need to do is find out what code it is. (I bet its P1091)
This will be the sensor nearer the turbo.
What I did was search the whole of Ebay, Even america for selling the inlet manifold for any thing from 2001 to 2004. (I say 2004 because that is what mine is off)
Then begg him to sell the part you want off it,
I had two sensors delivered from america for £26.

Another way is to give Grade A a ring, I think he sells a tumble generator complete for £75 last time I asked but he hadnt got any at the time and I was waiting for a while so had to do something so thats why I search Ebay.

I have diagrams of the part you need should you want them and where about in the engine bay it is.

As I said before check the number of the code first and we will go from there
Hope this gives you a bit of insite

I havent worked out how to send the diagrams as yet so I've taken some pictures for you.

This is what it looks like off the car:

This is the one on the front of the engine. This one is just a demonstration as it is not the culprit, but gives you an idea of how it bolts on etc:

Where abouts are you?
