sounds like the caliper is seizing.

possible quick fix, find a nice quiet road (industrial estate after work hours is good for that) or a big carpark, drive along it and stand on the anchors (brakes ) as hard as you can. should brake off any built up crap etc. if that doesn't work they will either need to come off and cleaned or be replaced

What are the symptoms of this? I think I might be suffering the same thing: a loud wooooing noise when rolling up to traffic lights etc.

stamping on the brakes is not going to solve a sticking caliper................

likely to be either a seized piston/slider mechanism or simply the pads stuck in the caliper guides, either way a strip/clean and re-assemble is the only way to solve it long term

had a sticking left front caliper on mine. turned out that the pin at the top of the caliper had seized so it was also a problem to change the pads. ended up having to get a replacement caliper
