Question Engine cut out at low speeds

STI Dec 05. When slowing down or just starting off but also when slowing down towards a junction around 20-30mph the car looses all power the engine is shut off and the check engine light comes on.

If you wait 10 secs then restart it seems to be fine again.

I`ve adjusted the idle setting which was around 600RPM up to 900RPM but its still doing it and appears completely randomly. There seems no set way to repeat it.

The top part of the solenoid valve and butterfly component have been replaced but seems to have made no difference.

After a long drive the problem seems to disapear when the engine is hot.

Does anyone have any ideas

Many thanks

Could be Throttle positioning Sensor, MAF or crank sensor (just guessing)... best get it to the dealer to check for fault codes

You can get idle problems with the idle air control solenoid valve when it gets oily/dirty.

Have a look for a vacuum leak. (rushing air sound)

Just out of interest are you running a VTA (vent to atmosphere) Dump valve?

MAF metre now replaced. This seems to have been causing the problem.

Thanks for the advice
