Noises from the front

Hi Guys,

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with this,

I have just bought a 2001 subaru impreza sport with less thant 60k on the clock. It has just been serviced with new pads and discs put on, as well as a full MOT.

There is a strange high pitch whirling noise coming from the front of the car somewhere. When the clutch is pressed in the noise completely disappears. It sounds like a higher pitch faster version of the noise a timing belt makes. The speed of this whilring increases when i press the accelerator down, and slows when i lift off. It also changes its noise slightly.

Any ideas?

Where are you based?

I have a guy in North Yorkshire that would be able to help you if you are local enough for him to see it

Any ideas what this might be as Ive looked around and people seem to think its either the thrust bearing or clutch that need replacing?
