18" Wheels

Hi i am hoping someone can help,i have had my scoob for a few weeks now and i think the speedo is reading the wrong speed. Its got 18" rims with 215/35 tyres on,the speedo seems to read about 10 mph over at about 60,i checked this following a mate who was doing 60 but my speedo read 70, any ideas?

tbh most who have 18's tend not to bother and just make sure they know the conversion rates at certain speed aka 30 is 5mph, 60 is 10mph etc.

Alot of people prefer to stay 17's or smaller cos the 18's stuff up the handeling of the car as well as the speedo readout

my speedo dosnt read out at all with 18s on you have got the right profilr tyre so the overall rolling diameter is the same tbh it could be your m8s speedo that reads out best way to see if it is ,is to borrow a tomtom sat nav and turn the speed option on and see what is going on then

tbh i wouldn't rely on the tomtom. i was usin the speed option on mine and it was well out. wasn't sure if it was my speedo that was out so tried it in a bog standard clio and it was out by pretty much the same amount in that too

I dont know by how much it miss reads but im fairly sure manufacturers set the speedos to read 10% faster than your actually goin. Sooo if you have 60 on your speedo your actually 54.
