Smile 12.8 on 1/4

hey guys, wow its been a long time i havent loged on sence early 06......
anyway im in the US just for reference, i went to the track 2 weeks ago and drove my buddys 06 sti
12.8!! stock......made me feel great
but sence im not expert on scoobys i was wondering if you could clear a few things up for me......
wen i lonched i lonched at redline (7,000rpm)
the tires didnt loos traction, didnt spin, didnt even cherp.....just grip and pull
i didnt have to fether it or anything just floored it ......
my question is (is the traction control just as good on the gc8 stis?)
would i be able to lonch a ver.6 sti at redline with no traction lose?
-thanx Alex

you may break the drive train on a classic not the strongest, and you prob wont be able to do a full power launch without loosing traction.

iirc they recomend about 4500 rpm, then flor it once moving

hhhmmmm thanx but i still wonder if there is any differences in how the awd systems work gc8 vs 06 sti....... i wonder why the traction would be lost on a gc8 but not on a 06? they a both full time active awd right? so why?

the new age cars are alot heavier than the classics, hence 0-60 times being lower on the classics by a good half a second at least.

eg my car is 258bhp and 28ftlb, and was clocked at 4.61 0-60mph, but a new age sti has 276bhp and only does 5.something 0-60.

weight though is the biggest key to traction, the more wieght the better traction, also the heat of the day will reduce the power down slightly, sticky surface of the drag strip, if its the same as the uk then semi slicks as standard which get good traction.

so its a number of different reasons

yeah, with awd your gonna need to hit 500bhp before you strat getting traction issues on drag strips so with 300bhp your no where near, yet lol
