Fmic

What FMIC would you fit to a 2000 classic scooby

without moving the battery and hopefully no mods

If its over 500bhp buy the best you can get. If your not going above that figure, then a cheaper model will do. My friend has them for £450 including fitting..

As Peter says, most front mounts, if not all require a few bits to be cut...

although opinions vary intercoolers arn't designed to increase performance parsay, there designed to reduce the air inlet temp, which increases air density, which mean yu get more bang in the same space.

1degree inlet temps increase means 1bhp, so if you have a top mount and the temp rises 40 degrees in the summer then, well i'll leave you to work it out.

all this talk about itys not worth it unles syou are going x amount of bhp is a bit of twaddle (sorry phill lol), keeping temps down can make the diff between a car thats slow as unless its stupidly low temps and a car than pulls wether its hot or cold. (also on that point the car has to be mapped slightly different so when you do get cold air temps overboost can then become and issue)

also the classic scoop is a bag of wank above 60pmh (is it 60? no sure on the exact figure) the air hits the front fo the car and ballons over the scoop meaning the top mount gets hardly any air

Are you saying then a front mount will absorb more air?
which will decrease air temp

My friend does it down in North Devon. He's had very good results with the kit he uses, so it cant be bad If you would like me to see if he could sort something out for you, please let me know.

Tidgy, I was told that from a Mapper as because the bigger thr front mount (for example the APS kit) it needs a big turbo else you have lag. No one wants lag..

I'd believe him, as he wouldnt be doing what he's doing otherwise and it would also save some cash too. No point in spending more than you need when you can have just the same results in the end and have a few 's in your pocket still. Otherwise he would have suggested for me to have spent 800 getting the model they sell and saying, ours is better blah blah..
Also Bob agrees with me on this, so I kinda give him the title Subaru God in my eyes, as with all of his knowledge and guidence, he's saved me a fair few quid too..

I was told anything above 100mph or so, but others might not agree. Personally a front mount would be better in my eyes simply because the damn thing is on the front of the car (nearest to the bumper) and that catches a darn sight more air than the top mount would.

Also the figures I was told speak for themselves... Top mount was roughly 325bhp and a front mount 345bhp...
