Low revs/ cut out when coming to a stand still!

Hi,

I have recently had a bit of bother with my impreza, when I come to a stand still the revs drop to 0 and then bounce back up to idle and some times it cuts out. Any ideas?

im no mechanic, but i had this prob when i had a duff maf sensor, are you in a position to borrow one off someone to try it? or have you tried the diags to see if it flags the faulty code up?

one way of testing the maf (but doesnt work all the time), is while the engine is ticking over, disconnect the maf, if the sensor is ok then the engine should actually cough and splutter and may cut out,
If it still ticks over how it did before then it would point out the the sensor is knackered.

I've had similar problems as both my MAF and Idle sensor went wrong.. Having got a V4 STI it cost me £245 for the MAF and thankfully nothing for the idle sensor. But I must admit, recently its been up and down a touch more than normal....

I would do the check that dieard sugguested to test the MAF, failing that, I'd GUESS it will be the idle sensor

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I booked my Impreza in to Revolution Performance to have it checked out and they have diagnosed a faulty Air Flow Meter. I am waiting for the new AFM to come in and they are gonna replace it. I will keep you posted.

Regards
Gunky

Actually JD could be right because the lambda as at idle it would be on close loop.

So the big three are:

1: MAF.

2: IACV.

3: Lambda.
