clutch judder?

I'm getting slight clutch judder in my '01 wrx, when pulling away in first & changing into second, when driving the car from cold? This dissapears as soon as the engine begins to warm. Whats the cause? is it oil on the clutch? diaphram needing replacing? any help would be appreciated.

This is a common problem on the scoob im affraid - if its going when warmed up its probably ok for the time being - no need to worry.

Many people report this. If you do a search for "Clutch Judder" it should return a few threads.

I have an 02' stock wrx with 62,000 miles on it. On cold days i have always had the shudder. I asked subaru about it, they said it was normal and to just bring the revs up higher and hold the clutch a little longer. With some skill its easily avoided, you just have to feel it out.

Right had clutch judder on my UK300 (MY01) about 2 years ago and had it changed under warranty for the upgraded Flywheel and clutch which was fitted to 03's on as standard I believe...

The modified item is bigger.

Had the same problem with mine and I had a new clutch put in and the flywheel skimmed and that solved it once and for all
