Decat up pipe - bugeye WRX

Im currently putting a decat up pipe on my WRX bugeye. What happens with the EGT sensor? Can it or should it, go back into the new pipe, or does it need to have a CEL fix carried out? Or, can it be left tied back loose in the engine bay?

Advise required urgently please, I havent got a clue what to do

ta

Cliff

Hi m8 - im sure some pipes are designed to eliminate the need for the factory EGT sensor but im unsure 100% about this (please dont quote me).

what up pipe u going for and does the manufacturer say anything abou the sensor? ie. can you get rid of it (thats my thinking)...

Well, I bought this up pipe 2nd hand. Its a Haywood and Scott item. The bise for the sensor has been welded up. It`ll take a fair bit of work to open it up again.

Just a note for anyone wanting to know what EGT is - Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor (E.G.T.)

Just a note about this

This is referring to the Perrin catless uppipe ^^^^

I would check with Heyward & Scott site?

The cel fix fools the ECU in to believing it is still recieving the correct signal from that sensor

Some of the sensors can be mapped out others require a fix. The fix is a little circuit in a small box that you wire to the sensor plug instead of the sensor itself.

A cel fix is often cheaper than a map unless you are getting the car remapped as part of the mods you are doing.
