Question 94 auto wrx

can someone tell me what the button does in front of the gearchange lever in a 94 auto.also is it common to have what feels like transmission windup on the overrun,ie when slowing down it feels like locking up for a second, then it lets go, be gratefull for any comments, cheers keith

hi keith, do yuo have any pictures of the button? is it a mod or does it look like its been there from day 1 so to speak?

hi gareth. sorry no pics, but it is a standard button i think, just in front of gearchange lever, about 1inch high, it goes down when you push it but does not lock down, strange.

hard to tell from your brief description, but assume its the button to allow you to move the gear lever out of park with the engine switched off............

The button infront of the gearchange, is a manual unlock for the gear lever, it allows you to move the gear lever with the engine turned off so that you can have easy access to the car stereo etc if you want to change or work on it.
Press and hold the button and you can move the gear lever.
As for the transmission wind up, cant help you there mate, I only experience it when I'm parking or manouvering slowly on 3/4 to full lock.
Havent had problems on overun or slowing down, would suggest checking transmission fluid levels, my auto box is very smooth. (95 WRX Import)
