The perfect launch, anyone know how???

Hiya

Got an 05 STI with afterburner decat pipe, centre pipe and back box, ECUTEK remap, HKS BOV and HKS boost controller! Thats a fair bit of mods right but cannot get the perfect launch! Off the mark Im not achieving the 0-60mph times I'd like? :? Don't want to damage the drive train or clutch but seem to bog down.. Is there some method that doesn't destroy the car but gets seriously quick pull off??

Thanks Daz

Im not joking but i found the perfect launch - hitting 2 nd gear almost instantly from the 5k rpm mark..

OK this aint so good for the clutch but boy its fun... 04 WRX just loves it :P 8)

AND a noisy experience with the HKS SSQV --- Had one friend thinking his time had come

Hahaha scared a few mates in my scoob many a time to...

So you rev upto 5k then miss first or go into first then very quickly into 2nd? Did you say your clutch takes quite a beating though?

I think if you launch from 5k on the rev counter, quite a bit would take a hammering!
Nice fun to do now & again like Gar said, but wouldn't be doing it from every traffic light & junction! :P

Yeah I'll say I'd think the drive shaft must take a pounding to! Hopefully someone knows a way of getting a quick pull off without messing anything up and putting alot of strain on everything! Whats the point of having such a quick car, if everytime you use it's full power to launch it breaks or if you don't it barely pulls off :?: :x :?:

launching mate is always gonna give the clutch a hard time and everything else to be honest dont get me wrong you will know once youve got it right, sounds like youre not giving it enough revs basically if youve ever had a frontwheel drive car and were use to getting them to wheelspin use a simular principal ive found it easier to fluctuate the revs between about 3500 and 4500 then let the clutch up but slip the very last bit to keep the revs high but not that much you can smell it lol whilst planting the throttle i managed to get used to it this way.

Hey Dave

Sounds like a good method, theres obviously no way of pulling off without pounding the clutch in someway unless its an N/A car Will give it a try..

Thanx mate
